At 3:00 PM today, the matchmaker visited my V4. I heard her announcement beep and saw her on the screen. But then just seconds (?) later she disappeared. I didn't press any buttons, and she didn't show me a prospective mate.
Is it normal for her to leave so soon? If I recall correctly, on other models, she stays on the screen for something like 15 minutes.

Yes it's true. I have 4 V4's running at the moment, and last week I couldn't understand why I was getting the attention beep coming from one of my Tama's- but when I went over to look at them there was no attention icon, no hearts down- nothing- I thought I was imagining it. On one occasion, I went out of the room, and one of my family said to me- the matchmaker just came- but she turned around and went again!
Then it all made sense- I had 'heard' the matchmaker previously- but just never managed to 'catch her'. She does this really new weird swirly eyed thing too- like she is 'on something!'. (on hyper-speed!
)So now if I know she is 'due' I am watching my tama like a hawk!
And now I know that the 'attention beep' and then no sign of anything wrong means I can re-set the clock to 'catch' the speeding granny!

I had a V4 next to an UraTama when the matchmaker came on both. On the UraTama (as on other previous versions) she glides into place, but on the V4 her legs move like a spider's. It's kind of creepy.

you can turn the clock back to 'catch her'... if you just missed her. (I think.) Especially if you literally just missed her, check the time and turn it back a few minutes.
This kinda worked for me 'forcing' her to come. I think I changed the clock to 2:59 and she came at 3:00 (I don't exactly remember the time but I'll look it up and post it).
I didn't like the first two matches she brought, so I kept turning the clock back until I got the match I wanted.
I've done this on the v4 and the v3.

This morning the matchmaker came to my Minotchi. He was sitting on the desk right next to me- I heard the attention and looked over and saw the matchmaker 'disappear' without even walking off - just like binary described.
So I got my camera and set it up to macro-film and then re set my clock so I could 'time' her. My video clip is 12 seconds long. The first frame is her coming onto the screen- BEFORE the 'beep' and then she opens her mouth and book a few times and just 'goes'. I estimate her total appearance to be about 10 seconds

P.S. the spidery leg and swirly eyed thing come after you have said yes- but I want this minotchi to marry one of my 'girls' which is why I didn't accept.

Legs moving like spider legs? Eh...sounds to me that Bandai made her switch between two frames at incredibly fast speed and she "dragged" across the screen. I haven't seen her on my new one yet, nor can I watch Spudilike's video (my computer's dying), but I'll pay close attention to the screen at her usual arrival times (unless Bandai changed THAT too...)binary @ Jan 23 2007, 09:21 PM wrote:Ok. This sorta thing makes you wander what happened when they were making the V4...it acts more like a knockoff vpet than any other Tamagotch (imo) ><

I have had TWO more Matchmaker V4 Glitches today.
1. She bought me a Mizutamatchi( yes the toddler
)as a mate .It disappeared before I could get my camera.
2. When I did get my camera, and she came back- she bought me a bunch of lines and locked my tama up, forcing me to reset/download.

Well I don't know about anyone else but I think the speed of the V4 is just wierd when compared to say an Entama I mean we've got the Matchmaker who seemingly is on speed on V4 but apart from that everything on V4 seems really slow compared to the Entama, for example if I place my Entama next to my V4 and use the toilet flush icon at the same time the Entama is over and done while the V4 is like only just half way. I'm just wondering if whatever causes the Matchmaker to be on hyper-speed somehow has an effect and slows down everything else or whether its meant to be slowed down...?

From what I've seen so far, the first main wave of V4 releases have the toddler-mate glitch (and, as Spudi showed us, WORSE glitches). Even so, the time problem is in effect on ALL V4 releases. Also, she's so differently animated now! She slides onto the screen now, and drags the mate slowly across the screen while flashing between her two "neutral" frames at high speed, and it looks kinda creepy. o.o;

Maybe someone, or maybe the staff of tZ, can e-mail Bandai and ask them about the glitches... maybe they made the glitch purposely to keep us Tamagotchi fans interested in them, because if the Tamagotchis were perfect, then we would not have anything to debate about and it would get boring... a wild guess...
When I get a v4, I will tell about anything unusual that happens, just to help... all these glitches are weird...

It makes no difference who e-mails them. In my experience, the customer services team at Tamagotchi.com/Bandai America, have no technical knowledge about tamagotchi's, and are merely a publicity/sales team.
The 'technical' side of the tamagotchi toys probably comes from the Chinese end of the business(where the toys are made), and the US side of it has no knowledge of the 'inner workings' of the units.

I have the V4 Blue Swirl design Tamagotchi.
My Yattatchi turned 6 today and I saw the matchmaker for the first time, twice this afternoon.
I'm curious about this 10 second glitch as I am sure that it took me longer than ten seconds to find my Tamagotchi after it beeped at me and to press B - I wanted to make sure I knew what was going on!
The matchmaker walked slowly onto screen and then turned to look out of the screen. I was then offered a mate for my Yattatchi. The first time it was Debatchi and the second time Kuchipatchi
.Next time I will wait at least 5 minutes when I see the matchmaker to see if she stays. If the matchmaker first appears on V4 at age 5 I could have missed her twice yesterday.

The matchmaker came again at 3pm today. I think that I do have the glitch if it is supposed to stay 10 minutes because after she came on screen I left the Tamagotchi for a few minutes and she was gone the next time I looked (I didn't press any buttons this time!)
Has this been 'fixed' on the later wave of Tamagotchi or is it supposed to be an event that if you don't respond in time you don't get to do (like getting Tamagotchi to the bathroom when nature calls)?

Why would you want to make the Matchmaker come on purpose? Why don't you just let it come on it's own when it's ready. In my case, if I miss the Matchmaker on my V4 it'll always comes twice for me, even if I don't get it in time. It usually comes the next day at the same time. And this happens to me even without changing the day on the first time it comes. Has that ever happend to anyone here?

The problem is, she only comes for a few seconds. It's easy to miss her. And if you miss her too many times, your Tama will become an oldtimer and the chain will be broken, unless you can somehow find another oldtimer to mate your Tama with. That means instead of having a baby and continuing the next generation, your Tama will die and you will have to start over with a new egg. You'll lose your items, points, souvenirs, friends, history, everything. So missing the Matchmaker is a big deal.

If your Tama turns into an oldie, then it's too late--the Matchmaker won't come. We know that happens around age 10, though, so if your Tama is 9 and still hasn't mated or seen the Matchmaker, it's a good idea to try a clock reset. (Set your Tama's clock to 10:29 a.m. and wait a minute.) It can take a few tries, because sometimes you'll get mail at 10:30 rather than a Matchmaker visit.

I have had yet another glitch on my V4 with the Matchmaker - this time a little different.
Lucas, my 7th-generation-6-year-old Robotchi, received the Matchmaker two days ago. She had come at 7PM. I quickly pressed ©, and then she moved over, but stopped at the screen's edge. The Matchmaker clouded up and lines drowned her. I pried him open, repositioned the battery (it was fine though) and downloaded. He then got a Mametchi from the Matchmaker and said yes. He had a girl, who is a Harutchi today, hopefully with no glitches.
(I forgot to mention - he's on a second design tama.)

Speaking of the Matchmaker, I need to ask a question. My Tamagotchi V4 is an oldie, in fact she's the Matchmaker character. I don't have any friends who have tamagotchis, or anyone in my family who likes tamagotchis. My question is, can the Matchmaker bring a mate to an old tamagotchi if the owner doesn't have any other old tamagotchi to mate with naturally?

(I said "normally" because on the Connection V1 - V4 models I don't know how to summon her after your Tamagotchi has turned into an oldie. But on the Japanese models EnTama & UraTama, there is an item you can use to summon her that works even for oldies.)
